Grayson County is expected to experience freezing temperatures, freezing rain and potentially sleet late this week and this weekend.
Rain will begin Thursday morning, said Amanda Schroeder, a meteorologist at the National Weather Center in Fort Worth. By the early afternoon the rain will start to freeze. The rain will continue through Friday morning when it could mix with sleet, which may stick to roads.
There is a chance that a second round of precipitation consisting of freezing rain and sleet could occur Saturday. Should this happen, there is a greater chance that the sleet will stick to roads.
Once the temperature drops below freezing, it will not rise above freezing through the weekend, Schroeder said.
The coldest day of the weekend will be Saturday, when temperatures aren’t expected to go higher than 20 degrees.
