DHS teacher resigns over allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a student

A Denison High School teacher resigned late last week over allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a high school student.

Denison Independent School District Public Information Coordinator Sherry Christie said on Sunday the district received a tip Thursday about the alleged relationship. After verifying that the claim was credible the district turned the information over to the Denison Police Department on Friday, Christie said.

DPD Lt. Mike Eppler confirmed the investigation and said no arrests have been made. He said he couldn’t comment further, citing the on-going nature of the investigation.

Christie said the teacher resigned Friday and the district has notified the Texas State Board of Education — a legal requirement of the district — about the allegations.
