Grayson County Sheriff’s Office calls off search for missing elderly man

POTTSBORO — The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office has called off the search for a missing elderly man who was last seen Friday.

Eighty-three-year-old Enoch Dixon’s last known location was his house in the Flowing Wells area west of Pottsboro. Dixon has dementia and is believed to be on foot.

Over the weekend, Sheriff deputies searched several square miles around Dixon’s house that they believe he could have wandered off to, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Ricky Wheeler. They used tracking dogs and a helicopter, but were not able to find anything. The Sheriff’s Office called off the search on Sunday.

“We can only search an area for so long,” Wheeler said.

Investigators are speculating that Dixon could have gotten a ride from someone, he said.

While the Sheriff’s Office is no longer actively searching for Dixon, they are still accepting tips regarding his whereabouts. Dixon is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 85 pounds. He was last seen wearing jeans, a denim shirt, work boots and a grey hat. Anyone with information on the case can call the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office at 903-813-4408.
