Sherman, Denison Christmas parades rescheduled due to impending inclement weather

Santa Claus may be coming to town soon, but he won’t be starring in any parades in Sherman or Denison in the next couple of days. Chambers of commerce in both cities have rescheduled their parades.

The Denison Chamber of Commerce said on Wednesday morning that predictions for deteriorating weather conditions in Texoma beginning Thursday afternoon caused them to reschedule the city’s Christmas parade, which was to have taken place Thursday night, to 6 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Sherman’s Chamber also rescheduled the parade scheduled for Friday night in that city. Sherman Chamber President Eddie Brown said that parade, and the Snowflake Festival, have been rescheduled for Dec. 14.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texoma residents can expect below-freezing temperatures and mixed precipitation as a cold front moves into the area this tonight.
