Woman dies after driving car into Lake Texoma

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman who drove a car into Lake Texoma Monday evening.

At about 5:20 p.m. Monday, two bystanders witnessed a car drive off a boat ramp into Lake Texoma, said Denison Assistant Fire Chief Bill Ray. The incident occurred at the Eisenhower Marina. The Denison Fire Department received a call at 5:35 p.m.

By the time the Denison FD responded, the woman had been underwater for about 30 minutes, Ray said. DFD divers attached a hook to the car and pulled it out of the water. The woman was still in the car’s driver’s seat and was deceased.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman as Marsha Curry, 58, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Ricky Wheeler. Curry was from different cities in the Dallas area, he said.

Ray said that during his time at the DFD he has seen other instances of cars being pulled from Lake Texoma, but this is the first incident in which a person was in the car.
