AUSTIN — Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst has appointed Texas state Sen. Craig Estes to the Legislative Budget Board. The position filled by Estes was vacated by Sen. Robert Duncan, who retired to become chancellor of the Texas Tech University System.
The LBB is a joint committee of the state legislature that develops budget recommendations for legislative appropriations, completes fiscal analyses for proposed legislation, and adopts the constitutional spending limit and conducts evaluations and reviews to improve the efficiency and performance of state and local government.
“Serving on the Legislative Budget Board is a tremendous responsibility, and I look forward to continuing the conservative fiscal policies of the state,” said Estes. “I always work vigorously to keep government spending in check so the state tax burden remains low.”
Estes represents nearly 820,000 constituents across Senate District 30 which includes all of Archer, Clay, Cooke, Erath, Grayson, Jack, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Wichita, Wise and Young counties and parts of Collin and Denton counties.
