CALERA, Okla. — Earl and Jo Anne Jackson of Calera, Oklahoma are being honored this weekend with a family dinner celebrating their 65th anniversary.
The Jacksons were married July 2, 1948 in the Calera home of Jo Anne Jackson’s parents, the late Luther K. and Mary Moss. Officating was B.C. Cope, a Methodist minister. Earl Jackson’s parents were Charles E. and Lela Jackson.
Both graduated from Calera High School in 1946 and went on to earn bachelors and masters degree in education. Earl Jackson taught social studies and coached girls’ basketball for 34 years. Jo Anne Jackson taught high school English in Calera and freshman composition at Southeastern Oklahoma State University for 26 years.
Earl Jackson served in the United States Army during World War II and was recalled for active duty during the Korean War, serving in the Havy Tank Company, 180th Battalion, 45th Division. He enjoys gardening and fishing.
Jo Anne Jackson enjoys reading, duplicate and creative writing.
Both are members of the Church of Christ.
The Jackson’s children are John Jackson and Kevin Jackson and his wife, Teri, all of Durant, Oklahoma. There are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
