Floyd and Marilyn Lindley of Durant, Oklahoma were honored Feb. 23 with a surprise 50th anniversary celebration. The gathering of family and friends was held at Huck’s Catfish in Denison. Hosts were their son and daughter-in-law.
The Lindleys were married Feb. 23, 1963 at the First United Methodist Church in Durant. Officiating was the Rev. Thomas Talley.
Marilyn Lindley was born in Durant, the daughter of J.B. and Dora Dawson. She is a 1960 graduate of Durant High School, attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and retired in 1995 from the Department of Human Services after 30 years of service. She recently published a book, Miracles and Blessings From Above.”
Floyd Lindley was born near Silo, Oklahoma, the son of Floyd Sr. and Ola Lindley. He is a 1955 graduate of Cobb High School and graduated from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater. He served in the United States Army, worked as a general contractor in Durant for many years and taught construction trades at Durant High School for 12 years before retiring in 1992. He is a 45-year member of the Durant Elks Lodge.
Both are members of the First United Methodist Church in Durant.
The Lindley’s children are Michael Lindley and his wife, Lisa, of Lewisville and the late Lisa Dawn Lindley.
