TOM BEAN — John and Virginia “Ginger” Melton will be honored April 22 with a 25th anniversary reception. The celebration will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the Edwards Community Room of the 1st National Bank in Tom Bean. Hosts will be the couple’s children. The couple requests no gifts.
The Meltons were married April 18, 1987 at Loy Lake Park in Denison by Horace Groff, retired county judge. Attendants were Roy and Terry Neal of Sherman.
Virginia Melton was born in Sherman, the daughter of P.H. and Catharine Connelly. She attended Sherman schools and was employed by the Grayson County tax assessor/collector for 19 years, retiring in March of 2010.
John Melton was born in Elmont, the son of John and Mary Aline Melton. He attended Whitewright schools and was president of Melton Plumbing, Inc., retiring in 2010.
The Meltons have three daughters, Stacy Lubbers and her husband, Mike, of Sherman, Karen Simpson and her husband, Alan, of Van Alstyne, and Diane Lovin of Fort Worth. There are four grandchildren.
