Children’s chorus auditioning singers

The Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas is auditioning new singers for the coming school year 2012/2013.

The concert choir is open to boys and girls in third through 12th grades with unchanged voices. Rehearsals for this group are each week at 5:45 Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sherman. The children are trained in healthy singing habits such as breathing, tone, articulation, posture, good listening skills and music literacy. The actual cost per year is $275, however, the Bboard asks for grants to help defray the cost for a child with talent that needs tuition assistance.

This past season, the Concert Choir gave a performance with David Matthews of the Dallas Symphony who played English horn. In June, the Houston Boychoir came to Sherman and performed with the chorus.

In this coming year, the group will perform with Anna Laura Page of Sherman, nationally-known composer, clinician and organist. The choir will be singing many of her published choral pieces and will perform them under her direction at a concert. Page is the wife of Oscar Page, retired Austin College president.
