Dance studio to hold recital

“A Fun and Frosty Christmas” is the theme of the annual Christmas recital presented by the students of Kristina’s Studio of Dance. The recital is set for 2 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the Sherman High School auditorium. It is free and is open to the public.

Dancers age three through adult will be performing routines in tap, ballet, jazz, point, and hip hop. A special guest appearance will be made by Jennifer McCarthy and Joshua Halliburton who will be performing a clogging duet to “Ring Those Christmas Bells.” All the music will be to a Christmas theme.

The recital will be presented in two scenes: “Celebrate the Season “ and “Delights of December.” Opening the performance will be a jazz routine performed by the studio’s senior competition team. Members include Elizabeth Morgan, Miranda Shelton, Tesla Peterson, Emma Fleming, Leah Paveloff, Anthony McKinney, Danielle Dean, Madison Love, Kyra Shock, Katie Cooper, and Ashton Swift. The team will also be featured in a hip hop routine.

Three-to-five year old dancers will perform to “Frosty the Snowman,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “Holly Jolly Christmas” and other holiday favorites. Older students will be dancing to “Jingle Bell Rock,”The Greatest Time of Year,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and more.

Karyssa Lott is the studio’s hip hop instructor. Her students will be performing to “A Sledding Song” and “Tell Me a Story.”

Dena Massey, ballet instructor, will present her choreography to “Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Good King Joy,” “Ring Those Christmas Bells” and “White Is in The Winter.”

A pointe routine will be performed by the pointe students to “The Christmas Star.”

The finale, “Let It Snow” will feature the all of the students.

Santa Claus will be making his yearly appearance in the finale and will be available afterwards to visit with kids of all ages.

Principal choreographer is the studio owner and artistic director, Kristina Beeler, who has also created the stage scenery. Other instructors and choreographers include Haley Cox, Dena Massey, Lindsey Herrin, Karyssa Lott and Jennifer McCarthy. Student assistants are Elizabeth Morgan, Shelby Brown, Danielle Dean, Tesla Peterson and Emma Fleming. The lighting technician is Kyle Harris and the sound engineer is Brian Tannous.
