Casting has concluded The Dixie Swim Club, the fourth show of Artistic Director Anthony Nelson’s inaugural season with the Sherman Community Players.
Twenty-five members of the North Texas community auditioned for the all female comedy, written by Jones, Hope, and Wooten. The writing trio is best known for their series of plays revolving the town of Fayro Texas — “Dearly Departed,” “Christmas Belles” and “Southern Hospitality.” They are also responsible for the hit television series “The Golden Girls”.
The Dixie Swim Club follows the lives of five Southern women whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team. They set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids, and jobs, they meet to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. Rounding out the cast is Allison Minton, Jessica Adams, Lisa Avila, GayNell Doshier, and Morgan Morgan.
The play will Thursday through Sunday, starting April 12 and running through April 28 at the Finley Theater in Sherman. Thursday through Saturday performances will be at 8 p.m. and Sunday mtinees will be at 2 p.m. The box office will open foir SCP season members on April 8 and go on sale to the genera lpublic on April 10.
