Creative Arts Center sets March activities

BONHAM — Theatrical performances, exhibits, music, and more are planned for March at the Bonham Creative Arts Center (CAC). The center is located at 200 West 5th.

This Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. the center’s Kidz Krew performing arts program will have its spring production at the Windom Auditorium in Windom. Each of the program’s three classes will perform a play: Little Kidz Krew - Aeropo’s Fables; Kidz Krew - Perseus and the Gorgon’s Head; and Teen Special Projects Class - The Perdition Waltz. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors and $5 for children age 9 and younger. They will be on sale at the door in advance at the CAC.

Currently on display at the CAC is the Watercolor & Wood Exhibit. The exhibit features the watercolors and wood carvings of Ron and Helen Eckard of California, along with local wood artists Terry and Bonnie Blose, Layne Schiebel and Kyle Dalton. The exhibit will be in place through March 27.

A new activity at the CAC is “Jam Night.” The first get-together is set for March 13 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the center. Musicians are invited to come and play, bringing their gu itars, cellos, banjos, clarinets or whatever instrument they play. The evening is free and open to the public.

On March 15 at 7 p.m., the center and the Red River Community Theater will present a Readers Theatre. In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, a traditional Irish buffet will be served. The play is a comedy entitled Leading Ladies. The event is free, but donations are required.
