For the second time in less than 10 hours, a motorcycle crash on F.M. 1417 closed the road and put the rider on a hospital-bound helicopter in critical condition. The Friday afternoon accident occurred on the southernmost stretch of the road, about one mile shy of the Highway 11 intersection.
Evidence on the scene seemed to suggest the red bike had clipped the bumper of a green car while attempting to avoid the four-door sedan as it waited to turn in to the mobile home park on Williams Boulevard. The motorcycle ended up in the southbound ditch along with a third car that swerved to avoid the collision.
The rider was transported via air ambulance to a nearby medical center with severe head trauma, said police.
