Filing for a place on ballot begins Wednesday

Staff reports

After a brief break from elections, its back to preparation for the May 11 voting. However, unlike November, the spring elections will be almost exclusively local. The season will officially begin Wednesday, the first day to file for a place on the ballot. The filing period will continue through 5 p.m. March 1.

Seats on both the Denison City Council and Denison School Board will be up for election. Open Denison Council seats are Place 4, which represents single member district 4 and Place 6, an at-large seat. The seats are currently held by Michael Baecht and Jim McClure, respectively. Baecht is eligible for re-election, but McClure is not.

On the School Board, the seats representing Ward 1, currently held by Frances Cameron; Ward 2, David Hawley; and Ward 4, Bruce Hysmith, will be open.
