SOUTHMAYD — A structure fire on Saturday night in Southmayd destroyed the home of a family of seven. No one was injured in the blaze
Grayson County Fire Marshal Kevin Walton said no one was home when the three-story home on S.H. 56 caught fire. “It burned for a long time before people noticed it,” he said.
When firefighters arrived, the structure was fully involved. The fire marshal said he expects it to be a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Walton said, because the structure and the fire were so large, the wreckage was still too hot for investigators to begin combing through the debris. He said he expects that to happen in the coming days.
