Grayson Commissioners set 2013 equipment use rates

Grayson County commissioners made quick work of a short agenda Tuesday. One of the items on their agenda will get a lot of use in 2013. Commissioners set the equipment rates the county will charge for the use of county equipment for 2013. The county sets the rates each year and then uses them when charging for work done under interlocal agreements.

Grayson County Purchasing Agent Jeff Schneider said the rates could also be used should the area be struck by a disaster. He said the county would use the rates to request money from the federal government based on work done with county equipment.

Commissioner David Whitlock said he thinks the county’s rates for such equipment is pretty close to what one would pay if one rented the machinery in the private sector. Commissioner Bart Lawrence agreed and the two moved and seconded the motion to leave the rates the same as they were for 2012.

County leaders also approved a request to authorize the solicitation of bids for additions to the Juvenile Administration Office at North Texas Regional Airport — Perrin Field. Schneider said the work will include moving the air conditioning unit, and a sidewalk to make way for the addition of some office space on the West side of the building. Bid closing date was set for Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. with a pre bid meeting set for Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. at the job site.
