The Grayson County NAACP installed its new officers in a ceremony on Sunday afternoon St. John’s Christian Methodist Episcopal Church . The ceremony included singing, scripture and prayer.
Steve Lewis Sr. was installed as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Branch 6252 president.
Lewis has served as the senior pastor of the St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Sherman for the past nine years. He is a graduate of the Interdenominational Theological Center Phillips School of Theology in Atlanta. Lewis is currently continuing his education and completing his bachelor of arts degree.
He has served as a board member of New Wine Christian Counseling Center in Denison and is an active member of the Grayson County NAACP.
Other officers for 2013 include Joseph Goodman, vice president; Joseph Mandala, treasurer; and Clara “Millie” Bagley, secretary.
