Police searching for missing Sherman woman; say there are ‘suspicious circumstances’

Police are searching for Sarah Lindsey Swaim, 21, of Sherman, who was reported missing late Thursday evening. Authorities said “there are suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance,” but are not releasing details.

Swaim is described as a white female, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 115 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen at 10 p.m. Wednesday wearing a pink shirt and pink pants.

Sherman Police Department Lt. Ken Brooks said SPD detectives worked on the case all night and, as daybreak approached, the department began making plans for an organized grid search. Police set up a mobile command in the Shadow Mountain Mobile Home Community, near Swaim’s residence, and began a systematic grid search of the surrounding area.

SPD is being assisted in the search by the Sherman Fire Department, students from Haz-Co Emergency Response Training Center in Denison and Texas Ranger Brad Oliver. SPD Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the department is also calling in off-duty police officers to assist in the search.

“We’re handling this as a missing persons,” Brooks said. “We’re taking this very seriously.”

Anyone with information about Swaim’s possible whereabouts should contact SPD at 903-892-7290.
