After being offline since Monday, Sherman placed its water treatment plant back into operation Friday following pipeline modifications and an inspection.
During the week, the entire city was provided water from the city’s well system while pipe modifications were done for the pipeline from Lake Texoma. City Engineer Clay Barnett said the city received no complaints about the well water and the work went well.
“The pipeline modifications were successfully completed within a couple days of the plant shutdown,” Barnett said. “We have not received the report on the pipeline inspection.”
Many residents receive surface water pumped through the plant, but there are portions of the city that only receive well water, even when the plant is in operation. The city warned residents last week that changes in the water may be noticeable for residents used to surface water. The treatment plant was originally expected to be offline until Monday, March 18.
