Sherman PD seeks information on Valero robbery suspect

The Sherman Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying a man suspected of robbing a convenience store in Sherman on Nov. 1.

At approximately 1:12 p.m. that Thursday, the Sherman Police Department received a call reporting an an aggravated robbery at the Valero Store, or “City Mart,” located at 1728 South FM 1417.

The clerk told responding officers he was robbed by a single suspect. The victim reported that a white male suspect entered the front door of the store while he was in the back storage area of the store. When the victim walked out to the front of the store, the suspect point a black revolver at him and demanded money, according to the statement given to police.

The victim walked to the register and began removing the cash from the register. The victim provided the suspect with the cash, and the suspect left the store on foot, the statement shows. He was last seen walking toward the north side of the building. Immediately after the incident, police tried, unsuccessfully, to use a K-9 unit to track the suspect.

Based upon the surveillance video, which was released to the media on Wednesday, and the witness’ description, police said the suspect is a white male who was wearing a grey sweatshirt that was turned inside out. He had some type of cloth over his face with holes cut out exposing his eye and part of his nose.

He wore a black ball cap worn backwards with an undetermined white design or logo on the front. He had short dark hair and wore dark colored pants and multi-colored gloves or socks covering his hands.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who might be able to identify the suspect should call SPD Detective Riley Day at 903-892-7322.
