Sherman police are investigating a fatal crash that left one woman dead late Friday night.
At 11:23 p.m., Sherman officers was dispatched to a fatality crash, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, in the 4700 block of U.S. Highway 75 south, near Tyson Foods.
The victim, 26-year-old Hope Douglas, of Sherman, was struck by a vehicle. The Critical Accident Investigation Team was dispatched to investigate. The driver of the vehicle that struck Ms. Douglas is not believed to be at fault, says a statement from the Sherman Police Department. Sherman Police Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the accident shut down the northbound side of the highway for four hours.
Ms. Douglas’ body was sent to the Collin County Medical Examiners Office, and CAIT is still investigating why Ms. Douglas was in the middle of the roadway.
