SHERMAN — The members of Friendly Church of God in Christ will observe their pastor’s 39th Anniversary this weekend in appreciation of his 39 years of service and leadership.
A celebration in recognition of their pastor, the Honorable Bishop T.W. Johnson, will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday, and 4 p.m. Sunday, hosted by the Friendly family.
Guest speakers will include: tonight — Supt. H.H. Harvey, pastor of Jacob Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Greenville. Saturday — Supt Nelson Gatlin, pastor of Mitchell Chapel COGIC in Sulphur Springs; and Sunday — Elder James Lincoln, pastor of New Beginnings COGIC in Wolfe City.
Their “Sister Church”, Grace Cathedral COGIC in Dallas, also pastored by Bishop Johnson, will be joining the celebration on Sunday.
During each service, along with the preaching of the gospel, local and district churches, guest choirs and musicians will be singing, shouting and praising the Lord for His goodness.
Family, friends and the public are invited to join them in this special celebration.
The church is located at 711 E. Lamar St. in Sherman. Elder David Cross and Elder Robert G. Softly are chairmen of the Anniversary Committee.
