GAINESVILLE — In his first year leading the Leopards, Keith Hall guided Gainesville from the bottom of the district to the top of the standings.
After going 2-8 and not winning a district contest in 2011, the Leopards didn’t lose until the third round of the postseason.
“I make the joke to the kids I just have to drive the bus on Friday and enjoy a game,” Hall said. “There was an order in which we put things in. We were telling the kids what we do, we’ll do well.”
The Leopards were matched victory for victory by Krum in district play before Gainesville closed out the season with a win against the Bobcats to claim the 9-3A crown.
After playoff victories against Lone Star and Princeton, the Leopards lost to Kilgore in the 3A Division I Region II final.
For his efforts, Hall has been named the Herald Democrat All-Texomaland Class 3A-4A Coach of the Year.
