Baseball Roundup — Gunter wins Celina Tournament

CELINA — C.J. Ateek and Dakota Hunter each went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs as Gunter claimed the Celina Tournament title with a 12-1 victory in five innings against Little Elm on Saturday.

Pake Montgomery chipped in two hits and an RBI while Jose Ledezma allowed two hits and struck out five for Gunter, which scored nine runs in the third inning.

Earlier in the day the Tigers edged Melissa, 7-6, in five innings. Two-run doubles by Dylan Higdon and Michael Burfield in the fourth inning provided a cushion for when Melissa scored three times in the bottom of the frame.

Gunter (5-0), which walked 13 times, hosts Tom Bean at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Landon Wilson had a two-run double for Melissa (3-1).

S&S Tournament

S&S 10, Lindsay 6 (6)

SADLER — Robert Cowden was 2-for-3 with two RBI as S&S earned its first victory of the season against Lindsay on Saturday.

Cody Hedges had a two-run double, Dustan Gann doubled twice, Reed Collum earned the save and doubled and the Rams scored six times in the fourth and four more in the fifth to rally past Lindsay.

S&S (1-2) will face Ector on Thursday to open the Trenton Tournament.

Lone Oak Tournament

Blue Ridge 14, Lone Oak JV 1 (4)

LONE OAK — Bryce Skotnicki drove in four runs as Blue Ridge closed out the Lone Oak Tournament with a victory against Lone Oak’s junior varsity on Saturday.

Brevin Wiggins had three hits, three steals and two RBI while Dalton Eaves drove in three runs, Clay Feagins doubled twice and Braley Williams earned the win while striking out eight and added two hits and two RBI for Blue Ridge (2-1).
