Boys Basketball Roundup — Whitesboro beats Bonham


WHITESBORO — Ryan Schuessler made five 3-pointers en route to 31 points as Whitesboro defeated Bonham, 65-58, in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Timothy Teater added 11 points and Weston Walsh scored nine points for Whitesboro (4-3), which plays Fairfield to open the Fairfield Tournament on Thursday.

Dra Smith scored 28 points to lead Bonham (3-5) while Caleb Upke had 12 points and Jacob Kemp chipped in nine points.

Van Alstyne 63, Howe 60

HOWE — John Jacob Talley scored 26 points in Howe’s non-district loss to Van Alstyne on Tuesday night.

Zach Folkes added 12 points, Ryan Haines had seven points and Garrett Fulenchek chipped in six points for Howe (4-4), which faces Aubrey at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the S&S Tournament.

Tom Bean 58, Quinlan Ford 53

TOM BEAN — Hunter Book had 15 points and seven rebounds as Tom Bean edged Quinlan Ford in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Luke Parrish scored 13 points, Logan LeDane added 12 points, six assists and five steals and Cody Miller and Caden Gomez finished with eight points apiece for Tom Bean (5-1).

Pottsboro 58, Lindsay 50

POTTSBORO — Dallas Sewell scored a game-high 18 points as the Cardinals notched their first win of the season against Lindsay on Tuesday night

Justin Lawler added 13 points, Preston Cook had nine points and Colt Rutherford chipped in eight points for Pottsboro (1-1), which will play Broken Bow at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Colbert Tournament.

Sam Rayburn 54, McKinney Christian 33

McKINNEY — Patrick Richardson scored 16 points as Sam Rayburn defeated McKinney Christian in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Kirk Sanders and Dalton Titsworth added 11 points apiece and Nathan Mandrell had nine points for Sam Rayburn (3-5), which faces Valley View at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the S&S Tournament.

Collinsville 50, Celeste 18

COLLINSVILLE — John Lewis had 16 points and six points as Collinsville defeated Celeste in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Jake Vella added 13 points and 12 rebounds, Michael Broyles scored nine points and Connor Daley chipped in six points and eight rebounds for Collinsville (6-1).

Ector 78, Blue Ridge 44

ECTOR — Jimmy Ford led four Eagles in double-digits with 17 points as Ector defeated Blue Ridge in non-district action on Tuesday.

Cody Kennedy scored 16 points, P.J. Connelly had 15 points and Bradlee Coldiron chipped in 14 points for Ector (8-2).

Braley Williams led Blue Ridge (4-3) with 10 points while Colby Quillin had eight points and Thomas Weatherford finished with seven points.

Honey Grove 51, Merit Bland 32

MERIT — Charles Sanders had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven steals as Honey Grove won its season opener at Bland on Tuesday.

Hussian Jabai added eight points and five rebounds for the Warriors. Hunter Templeton also scored nine points, Aaron Foster had five steals and Jeremy Patt totaled four steals and four assists for Honey Grove, which plays Savoy on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to open the Celeste Tournament.

Dodd City 60, Dallas Gateway 59

DODD CITY — Landon Liebel scored 28 points as Dodd City held off Dallas Gateway in non-district play on Tuesday night.

Hunter Brent had 15 points for the Hornets (8-4) while Taner Simpson chipped in six points.

Prosper 63, Melissa 38

PROSPER — Sheldon Moore scored eight points in Melissa’s non-district loss to Prosper on Tuesday night.

Cory Regan added seven points, Jacob Carlson finished with six points and Chris Paynter had five points for Melissa.

Aubrey 55, Texoma Christian 26

AUBREY — Simon Nguyen scored eight points in Texoma Christian’s non-district loss to Aubrey on Tuesday night.

Clayton Olmstead, Zack Walston and Dan Leak each had six points for Texoma Christian (3-7), which will begin play in the S&S Tournament on Thursday.
