GAINESVILLE — Adam Berryman ran for 202 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries as Gainesville opened the season with a 45-23 victory against Burkburnett on Friday night.
Mason Copeland had two TD passes — a 30-yarder to Jonathan Mendez and a 50-yarder to Devin Mims — while Jacob Royal added a touchdown run for the Leopards.
Bryan Lewis threw three touchdown passes, two to Bobby Ingram, for Burkburnett, which did all its scoring in the fourth quarter.
Callisburg 33, Henrietta 14
HENRIETTA — Jake Parker ran for 103 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries as Callisburg opened the season with a victory against Henrietta on Friday night.
Jacob King caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Rheyce Childress and Eli Hollandsworth added a TD run for Callisburg, which had a 26-0 half-time lead and held Henrietta to eight first downs and 90 yards on 31 carries.
Nocona 43, Whitewright 7
NOCONA — Caleb Swofford threw for 274 yards and three touchdown passes as Nocona defeated Whitewright in the season-opener for both teams on Friday night.
Whitewright’s lone touchdown came on a 35-run by Jefferson Ballard in the third quarter.
John Jennings ran for two touchdowns and Cristian Ibarra returned an interception 50 yards for a score as Nocona opened up a 36-0 lead.
Tom Bean 40, Celeste 20
TOM BEAN — Daniel Jackson ran for 137 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries as Tom Bean started the year with a non-district victory against Celeste on Friday night.
Hunter Book threw a touchdown pass to Tanner Ellis, Devyn Jackson ran eight times for 97 yards and a score and Colton Blomstedt returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown for Tom Bean.
Collinsville 62, Sacred Heart 34
COLLINSVILLE — John Lewis ran for 193 yards and five touchdowns on 23 carries as Collinsville opened the season with non-district victory against Sacred Heart on Friday night.
Connor Daley and Jacob Claytor also scored on the ground while Tanner Petska and Hayden Smith caught TD passes for Collinsville, which had 39 points through three quarters. Lewis also threw for 129 yards, Daley ran for 80 and Smith chipped in 74.
Detroit 51, Blue Ridge 13
BLUE RIDGE — Ty Agan threw for 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns but Blue Ridge was unable to keep pace with Detroit in a season-opening loss on Friday night.
Colby Quillin had 64 yards and a touchdown on six catches while Brevin Wiggins had seven catches for 65 yards and a score for the Tigers. Detroit held Blue Ridge to minus-eight yards on 15 carries.
Fannindel 68, R’wall Heritage 19
LADONIA — Stephen Lock scored every time he touched the ball during Fannindel’s season-opening win over Rockwall Heritage Christian on Friday.
Lock ran for three touchdowns — totaling 73 yards — and caught a score for the Falcons.
Quincy Cuba rushed for 164 yards on 11 carries, running for and catching a touchdown for Fannindel. Jarvis Wilburn finished 14-for-16 for 153 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Chris Day also had five receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown for the Falcons, while E. J. Jones ran four times for 27 yards and a score.
