PROSPER — The Lady Cardinals took first place in their pool at the Prosper Tournament with victories against Pilot Point, North Lamar and North Hills Prep on Thursday.
Melissa defeated Pilot Point, 25-20, 25-22, North Lamar, 25-15, 25-20, and North Hills Prep, 25-10, 25-15. The Lady Cardinals (11-0) open bracket play on Saturday at 8 a.m. against Greenville.
In the victory against Pilot Point, Madison Rose and Riley Duzenack each had six kills while Connar Newberry added five kills, Alli Boedeker finished with four kills and four blocks and Amber Melcher handed out eight assists.
Newberry had five kills in the win over North Hills Prep as Rose and Duzenack each put down four kills, Henger collected 15 digs and Whitney Taylor finished with three blocks.
In the win against North Lamar, Rose had 11 kills, Newberry added eight kills, Duzenack and Melcher each chipped in five kills and combined on 33 assists and Erin Nelson contributed six digs.
Gunter def. Bowie 2-0
PROSPER — Mikayla Watson had 10 kills, eight assists and 18 digs as Gunter defeated Bowie, 25-18, 25-19, in pool play at the Prosper Tournament on Thursday. The Lady Tigers also earned ties against Celina, 17-25, 25-13, and Timber Creek, 25-21, 18-25.
Katey Campbell finished with six kills and 10 digs, Regan Hestand added four kills and four blocks, Breanna Adkins handed out 10 assists and Lana Green totaled 12 digs against Bowie.
In the tie against Timber Creek, Watson had seven kills, four assists and five digs, Emily Bruner put down six kills, Adkins handed out six assists and Green collected six digs.
Watson had six kills, Bruner and Hestand each finished with four kills, Mackenzie Mazerolle collected 10 digs and Kaylee Schmitz added two blocks in the tie against Celina for Gunter (2-2-2).
Bonham sweeps pool
FARMERSVILLE — Bonham will play in the Gold Bracket on Saturday after sweeping its pool matches on Thursday at the Farmersville Tournament.
The Lady Warriors (11-2) defeated West Mesquite, 24-17, 25-3, Whitewright, 25-10, 25-17, and District 12-3A rival Anna, 25-15, 25-21 to earn the pool’s top seed.

Dodd City wins pool
BIRTHRIGHT — Dodd City will play in the championship bracket on Saturday after going 3-0 in pool play on Thursday at the North Hopkins Tournament.
The Lady Hornets (6-0) defeated North Hopkins, 25-21, 25-18; Phoenix Charter, 25-6, 25-7; and Leonard, 20-25, 25-19, 15-7.
Dodd City will face District 17-A rival Roxton on Saturday to open play in the championship bracket.
