Boys Basketball Roundup — Whitesboro wins Leonard Tourney


LEONARD — Ryan Schuessler scored 25 points as Whitesboro defeated Whitewright, 58-47, to win the Leonard Tournament on Saturday night.

Stephenn Hamon added 11 points and Kaden Anderson finished with nine points for Whitesboro, which outscored Whitewright by 13 in the fourth quarter.

Mason Riggins scored 13 points and Dane Robinson and Desmond McNiel each chipped in 12 points for Whitewright.

Leonard 52, Anna 48

LEONARD — Laine Albert scored 14 points as the host Tigers defeated Anna to take third place at their tournament on Saturday.

Nik McCain added 13 points for Leonard, which outscored Anna by eight points in the second half.

Consolation Bracket Championship Tom Bean 55, Pittsburg 44

LEONARD — Logan LeDane had 22 points, four assists and three steals as Tom Bean won the consolation title at the Leonard Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Dalton Blassingame scored nine points, Sheldon Roberson added six points and 11 rebounds and Noah Boyd chipped in six points and three steals for Tom Bean (9-2).

Sherman Holiday Invitational Consolation Bracket Semifinal Lake Dallas 54, Collinsville 42

John Lewis scored 21 points for Collinsville but Lake Dallas defeated the Pirates in a consolation semifinal at the Sherman Holiday Invitational on Saturday.

Andrew Harris added seven points, four rebounds and four steals, Jace Claytor scored seven points and Connor Daley chipped in three points and six rebounds for Collinsville (6-5).

Ector Tournament Consolation Bracket Championship Blue Ridge 68, Savoy 50

BELLS — Brevin Wiggins scored 17 points and earned all-tournament honors as Blue Ridge defeated Savoy for the consolation title at the Ector Tournament on Saturday.

Brody Worth added 15 points, Thomas Weatherford finished with 12 points, Harrison Martin had 10 points and Travis Jones chipped in nine points for Blue Ridge, which returns to district action when it hosts Boles at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Sulphur River Shootout Honey Grove 65, Cumby 30

HONEY GROVE — Jeremy Patt had 24 points, 11 rebounds and six steals as Honey Grove beat Cumby, 65-30, to sweep its two-day round-robin tournament on Saturday.

Andrew Martin scored 14 points against Cumby, while Jacob Price had 11 and Xzavion Epps added 10 with six rebounds each for Honey Grove.

Earlier Saturday, Martin hit five 3-pointers en route to 19 points as Honey Grove defeated Celeste, 44-21. Patt and Price scored eight points each and Markiel McGee had seven.

On Friday, Patt totaled 11 points, 13 rebounds, five steals and three assists during Honey Grove’s win over Fannindel. Price had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Martin scored 14 points.

Quincy Cuba finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and six steals, Jarvis Wilburn scored 14 points and Stephen Lock added eight points and 10 rebounds against Honey Grove for Fannindel, which beat Cumby, 55-38, and Celeste, 39-26.
