SANGER — Whitesboro’s softball team scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning on Wednesday afternoon as the Lady Bearcats rallied to beat Sanger, 10-8, in the season opener for both teams.
Katie Dean batted 3-for-5 with a triple, and also pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts for Whitesboro (1-0). Ashley Griffen was also 3-for-5, and Taren Dillion and Devyn Power each added two hits. Griffin, Dillion and Tori Perkins all had two RBI and Alexus Vanlandingham walked three times and scored three runs.
Whitesboro will host its annual tournament starting today with numerous local teams participating.
